Tournament Rules for the GIBA

Purpose: The purpose of the GIBA is to conduct scratch tournaments to showcase bowlers' skills. This tournament continues to carry on a tradition of excellence that started over 30 years ago.

Eligibility: Membership is open to any bowler that owns a USBC membership card. All tournaments are USBC sanctioned.

Membership Fees: The membership fees will be $10.00 per member per year. Bowlers must pay the membership fee prior to bowling their first tournament.

Tournament Entry Fees and Expenses: Tier One Regular GIBA tournaments only The tournament entry fee is $57.00. The only tournament expenses are bowling fees. The bowling fees are $13.00 per player per tournament.

Prize Ratio: The prize ratio is 1 to 4. All prize fees are to be returned 100%.

Tier Two Optional Entry Fee: Tier two entry fee is $30.00 and is optional. There are no expenses for this option. All entry fees are returned 100% as prizes with a prize ratio of 1 to 4.

High Game Pots and Brackets: Optional high game pots (for $8.00) will be collected. The high game pots will pay three spots. Optional brackets will be available for each tournament. There will be singles brackets (limit 50) and mini-boards. Extra money from the bracket proceeds may be used to increase the prize fund.

Bet You Win Pot Optional: pot ($10.00) will be collected for tier one. Optional pot ($10.00) will also be collected for tier two. 100% of the money in the associated pot will be paid to the winner of each tier providing he/she is entered in the pot. Should the winner not be entered, 100% will carry over to the following tournament.

Qualifying: The qualifying squad will bowl eight games across sixteen lanes.

Finals: The field will be cut to the top five bowlers for the stepladder finals. In case of a tie for fifth place a one game roll-off will be held to determine the bowler that will bowl in the finals. In case of a tie for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd places, a one game roll-off will be held to determine position in the stepladder finals. Each match in the stepladder will be bowled on a different pair of lanes and the lanes will not be redressed prior to the finals. The higher seed in each match will have lane choice at the start of the match. In case of a tie for the 4th and 5th positions from qualifying, a coin flip will be used to determine the starting lanes. If a stepladder match ends in a tie, a ninth and tenth frame roll-off will be used to determine the winner, repeating the roll-off until a winner is determined.

Squad Times: The squad times are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. The practice sessions should begin at 10:00 a.m. All entries are to be received by that time.
